Botched parking job takes out four cars, two boats, two garages and a trailer

 

 

An elderly man's attempt at parking in a garage in the Illawarra ended with damage to two boats, four cars, two garages and a camper-trailer about 8:30pm last night.

 

The 78-year-old was pulling his Mitsubishi Pajero into a garage in Albion Park Rail when he hit the accelerator rather than the brake, sending him through the rear wall and into a boat on the other side.

 

The Pajero became lodged on the trailer carrying the boat, and when the driver reversed he dragged the trailer with him.

 

The driver then crashed into a Toyota Hilux and a second boat on the other side of the road.

 

The impact caused a second garage to collapse, police believe, damaging the second boat as well as a camper-trailer.

 

The driver then accelerated forward, colliding with a Proton sedan, then a Hyundai sedan which connected with the boat trailer.

 

The Pajero came to a stop 200 metres away.

 

The driver was hospitalised with non-life threatening injuries and will undergo mandatory drug and alcohol tests.

That's awesome that your father still drives, if he's capable.  It's something Filipinos will never understand....the sense of independence and self-reliance that we have in the western world.  My grandma and her sister both lived well into their 90's and while my grandma didn't drive, her sister certainly did.  Lots of fender benders in the church parking lot   :lol:
