Jack Peterson Posted December 2, 2015 Posted December 2, 2015 You will probably think Jack has Finally lost it but........ During my walks and just taking in the daily things that go on here, I do take notice of some strange things Recently on my daily Visit to my local SORRY, SORRY, I noticed 2 odd things. 1. was that there was not a Scrap of breeze and absolutely No noise. 2. a Young Girl, Hmmmmm 10/11 or maybe 12 that was left handed. Now I never really noticed this before this particular day or maybe it just did not register but After that I started to take more notice of people, Shops Resto's and Places Nope, I never saw another in maybe 4 weeks now. As I do, I asked TM ( my daughter) if she had any class mate that were left handed. Not really she said, we do but they are told to use their Right Hand. She said that ever since Elementary, Class mates that were Left Handed were always told to Learn to use Right hand, OH! I said why is that. Well she said, The Teachers always said that a left handed Pupil when sat on the right can Copy from the Right hand person on the left. How absurd I thought but yes, I can see that. Then most things for a school are for Right handed pupils (Even Adults) Think about this Yeah! So many things we Right handed people would take for Granted. Why not change places ? Hmmmm Too easy I guess. Anyway, I still haven't seen another one at all so maybe the Dumaguete Left Handers have changed to the Right or just become Ambidextrous but prefer now the Right, Who knows? Doing a little research to ease my Conscience, I came up with this and low and behold, The Philippines have a Left Handers day Apparently it seems, in August I thought some of you might find this link amusing, If not OH! Well, What can I say But SORRY! http://www.rappler.com/life-and-style/65991-left-handed-social-media Do any of you know or seen a left handed Filipino other than "Manny" Jack :hystery:
Forum Support scott h Posted December 2, 2015 Forum Support Posted December 2, 2015 Jack...I am left handed SO WATCH IT!! One of these days, I tell you one of these days we will rise against the blatant discrimination that has been inflicted upon Me and my poor brothers and sisters. I dare you, try and use a scissors with your left hand, or use a can opener! Ever see a left hander break the handle off a sink faucet trying to turn it off? (usually because he had a learning disability and couldn't remember "righty tighty , lefty loosy, you know I am 58 years old and still sing that mantra to myself). Try wearing a watch on your right wrist and adjust the buttons, cant do it. And its great for your self esteem, always being placed at the far corner of the table so your elbow wouldn't bump the elbow of a right hander while eating. Try turning any type of knob, any type at all. It natural when your right handed, the wrist just flows, but use your left hand the wrist just doesn't feel right. I could go on and on :hystery: . But seriously, its really a shame that they are changing them in the schools system. I (in the early/mid 60's) was one last batch that they routinely changed lefties in school. My mother caught the nun's changing me from my natural left to right and she blew a gasket and raised all kinds of hell (she wasn't catholic, just married one ) the school was force to switch me back. My hand writing is still atrocious to this day, I mean literately illegible, I have printed almost all my correspondence my whole life. Anyway every so often you will see a "left handed store". If you see one, check it out there are some really funny things there. Like left handed coffee cups and stuff like that. :cheersty:

Thomas Posted December 2, 2015 Posted December 2, 2015 I asked TM ( my daughter) if she had any class mate that were left handed. Not of the reason her teacher told :mocking: but 50 years ago Swedish teachers tried to make left handed switch to right too (but I believe that was skiped when I were in elementary school still). I don't know if it had to do with politics back then tried to make all being equal, all being same. E g the good students had to be less good than possible, by having to wait much for the badest students... I'm odd as for many other things :mocking: being kind of double handed. To most things my right hand is better, but I write BETTER readable for other people with my left hand, because then I write normal big to make it readable, while I write much smaller and faster by habbit with my right making it not readable by most people. In table tennis against one smash specialist player I lost with my normaly best band (=right) but wonn with left,, because then I didn't try to make tricky odd spins, just put the ball back low and short. I pick berries and play cards as a left handed...
Steve & Myrlita Posted December 2, 2015 Posted December 2, 2015 This is a weird one. I'm considered right handed because I write with my right hand but yet, I use sissors in my left, shoot a gun with my left, and before my spinal injury, kick a ball with my left. Yeah screwed up I know.
