Military Rule

If Phils plays it cards right, they can garnish a lot of tourism from disgruntled travelers to Thailand.

Tourism numbers in the PI for 2012, 2013, and 2014 were 4.2 M, 4.6 M, and 4.8 M. Department of Tourism PI had forecast 10 M for 2014.

Tourism Numbers in Thailand for 2013, and 2014 were 26.5 M and 24.7 M The drop was due to political unrest but martial law ended April, 2015 and tourism has increased.

And then there is lag lag bala in PI. Manila and NAIA can't handle 4 M tourists.

I can assure you Martial Law has not ended here, it is alive and well.  The incumbent 'Prime Minister' is a sad paper board cut out.

They call it something else now:

"At the beginning of April 2015, Thailand ended martial law, to be replaced by Article 44 of the provisional constitution, granting unrestricted powers to the prime minister. The words "martial law" were toxic to foreign democracies, but, in terms of tourism, even more toxic to foreign travel insurance providers, who decline to provide insurance to those visiting nations under martial law. The tourism industry has already seen positive changes after last week's cancellation of martial law, Deputy Prime Minister MR Pridiyathorn Devakula said. The arrival of high-spending tourists from Europe and the US are expected to increase, Pridiyathorn said"

We can walk down at midnight and check out the fireworks but it is just not quite the same.

Once you have lived here for a while you will be nostalgic for the days when fireworks were controlled.  We can't even drive down the street right now without some arse throwing a lit, LOUD, firecracker at us. And it will get worse we we are ready to come home later tonight.

Yes. And with the risk bullets coming down have killed small kids being INSIDE home, even many POLICEmen are shooting in the air to make noice !!! :bash: :1 (103):

Except the Thai tourists from Europe and the US are not 'high-spending' - and that is from TAT's own figures. Asian tourists in Thailand spend more per day than farangs. Just like they do in the Philippines.
