OnMyWay Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 The USS Antietam, a guide missile cruiser, is docked in Subic Bay. We usually have boring supply ships here, so we went down to take a look. The sun was bad for getting a good shot of the ship, but I got a cool picture of the ship, my older daughter, me and my wife reflected in the sunglasses of my young daughter. Cropped photo Original photo Only decent picture I got of the ship
Popular Post intrepid Posted February 7, 2016 Popular Post Posted February 7, 2016 Wow, cool. That ship has a special place in my heart. Antietam was named for the site of the 1862 Battle of Antietam, Maryland, One of the most bloody battles of the Civil War. This battlefield is just 10 minutes from my home. Have spent a lot of time there and very interesting history. Interesting there is not a town named Antietam but a creek named Antietam runs by the nearby small town of Sharpsburg. The bell from USS Antietam CVA 36 is on permanent loan from American Legion Post 236 of Sharpsburg MD and is dedicated in honor of those who served on her. The memorial is in front of the Antietam Battlefield Visitor Center. Just a little history
robert k Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 OMW, what are you feeding that kid? It seems such a short time since we were joking about stroller wheels bigger than the wheels on smart cars.
