Really Low Withdrawal Limit Atms?

I have often been annoyed by how low the withdrawal limits per transaction is on ATMs in the Philippines. Because my banks charge me per transaction I'd rather withdraw larger amounts at once.

So far all ATMs I encountered had a limit of 10'000 PHP - are there any with a higher limit?

Thanks

EDIT: just to clarify, I'm using a foreign (Swiss / Chinese) ATM card, which charges me on the transaction and I want a higher limit PER TRANSACTION/WITHDRAWAL. Should have mentioned that earlier.

At BPI I can do 10,000 twice a day, total p20,000.  So if I want 20k I just do it twice.

Yes, that's also my experience, I can do more than that even, I've done 4 times 10'000... but each time with the relatively high per-withdrawal fee my bank charges which I'd like to avoid.

But I've heard there are ATMs that allow more per withdrawal.

HSBC allow a 40,000 limit. However there are almost no HSBC's in the Philippines. A couple or three in Manila. One in Ayala mall i Cebu.

BPI, they used to allow 20,000 pesos in a single withdrawal, but they reverted to 10,000 last October.

banks charge me per transaction

One of those things we have to adjust to here Aft. When we first moved and set up banking we got an ATM card also. After awhile of a) finding an ATM that worked b) waiting in long lines at times c) noticed the fees (which basically really lowers any good exchange rate). We just closed it.

Now when we shop we just use a credit card for large items and just carry cash. We keep dollars in a safe at home and exchange it locally for a better rate that the bank or ATM gives.

Just what works for us. :cheersty:

BPI does not have ATM charges for using their cards.  At least, not on the 4 cards / accounts we have.

If you think about it, p20,000 isn't that bad, around $425 USD.  I remember when the limits in the US were $300, many years ago.

BDO allows 50,000p per day but only 10,000p each transaction with no fee if you use BDO card at BDO ATM. If you go into a bank and use VISA or Mastercard, you can withdraw 49,000p each transaction in a second with no phone call as a cash advance. You can do that 4 times a day. There is a $5 charge each transaction some times but not all the time. You can get 200,000p from your card if the bank makes a phone call. If you transfer a credit to your credit card before you get the cash advance, there will be no interest charges.

Thanks guys, I'm using a foreign ATM card though. So has anyone found an ATM with a higher per withdrawal/transaction limit?

I believe that BPI now has a sign that says foreign ATM cards can be p20,000 per transaction.

If you plan to do this long term, you might be able to find a bank account that has no ATM fees.  Fidelity and USAA in the US refund all transaction fees including the one charged by the foreign ATM, up to 10 per month.
