Having just been prompted by another poster here is the Question.

How many members feel the need to take an afternoon nap having just ate lunch?

Very often we use the excuse it's to hot, so lay down with the Air-con on cool;

Is this custom practiced in Philippines?

I remember years ago travelling to Spain, where all the shops would close in the afternoon for Siesta

I have not notice this on my trips to Philippines.

To me it seems most Filipinos have a 24/7 siesta. I do lay down after a meal if im home and enjoy the AC. Not much else to do here with a fully tummy while its hot.

Everything is slow in the Philippines:D.

Cant wait to say its too hot to do anything, but nothing better then a good film after dinner, or great sex before dinner, all depends on how hungry you are

I have learned to treasure siestas - we observe "siesta" hours on weekends.

We are very early risers (up at 4:30 am), so the siesta breaks on weekends are a real treat.

I'm an early riser. I have my coffee and light snack before breakfast. I only eat twice a day so my afternoon/evening meal is around 3 pm after which I may or may not take a nap. It all depends. I do stay up late with my coffee and wife. We usually like to watch a video together before retiring. too sleepy for sex, ( sorry Honey) by then but my "morning wood" gets rewarded. That is my active time and any other time, I might add but not late at night. When there is another person in the house, it's hard to be discreet (quiet).  Son his sharp ears.  (smile )

I take a nap every day.  If I can afford the time I will sleep for 90 minutes which allows our body to go thorough all the phases of a complete sleep cycle, that includes RIM sleep.  If can cannot spend 90 minutes I will sleep for 40 to 60 minutes as a nap.

The need? Heck no! I am just fulfilling the mandatory requirements of retirement :thumbsup:. Unless we are out and about doing some type of retirement activity (sight seeing, visiting, mall crawling, friend visiting etc.) every day at 11:45 am, I tromp up the stairs, turn on the aircon, return to the kitchen, make a sandwich or something, return to the AC, turn on the tub, eat, and wait for Mr. Sleepy to visit me.

Ah yes, naps are the bomb:hystery:.

(oh Jack, Mr. ROLF is back heh heh)

I never understood naps, in general.  From the time I was a toddler I hated nap time.  I sleep when tired and occasionally that is in the afternoon but sleeping in the afternoon does not happen more than once a month or so.  I like to get all my sleep in one long stretch of 6 to 9 hours, depending on how tired I am.  On those once a month occasions where I do sleep in the afternoon I feel groggy for the rest of the day and then have a hard time getting to sleep at night. Heat does not make me tired, a big meal does not make me tired, sex does not make me . . well scratch that last one :hystery: :6:

I've noticed as well that siesta is quite common in the Philippines as well, especially when I visited there more than a handful of times.

Siesta is actually becoming our family routine (mostly in weekend), and must say it definitely something I wish I had the pleasure of doing when I was young because after a good siesta/nap time with my wife (she introduced it to me), we both feel rejuvenated and able to tackle what's left of our tasks for the day.

Highly recommend for those who never had done so, please do so eventually for it'll do wonders for your health.
