Keep in mind that this guy did not give me an estimate in advance.  He just fixed it and charged me and was not up for any negotiation.  Had he told me that the repair job would total 3,000 I may have decided not to do it.  Nah.  I would have.  I am pretty sure I can sell the TV for 6,000, which is double the cost of the repairs (if I really wanted to sell it) so its good value to fix it at that price.
