Sander Martin Posted May 5, 2016 Posted May 5, 2016 (edited) Well there's usually two chips in the key. One to send the signal to unlock/alarm on-off and one for immobilizer. Of course the "Mr quickie key" wont open the door remotly as its lacking that chip. Manually puting the key in the lock and turning still opens it. The immobilizer chip is an anti-theft system thats installed in most new cars (and in meny countries you are requiered to install it by law if the car didn't have it installed in the factory). It sends a signal to the car while you try to start it that is "ok to start". Without the immobilizer chip in your key the car wont start - cuts the circuit off. You should be able to start the car with the "Mr quickie key" aslong as you have the original key with the chip right next to you (comes handy if you happen to brake the original key like i did). The chip transmits a small radius signal. I had to use a key without a immobilizer chip when i broke my original key. Had the cheap key in the ignition and the broken key ontop of the ignition and it started. Got me into the key shop to have a new key made and both chips transfered, so that worked well for me. The immobilizer in my Toyota came with a Immobilizer programming tag. With that tag anyone with the proper gear and know-how could program more chips if you needed the keys. Maybe Suzuki doesn't provide the tags, because they want to charge you a steep fee to have it done in their dealership. My immobilizer might have been an aftermarket one tho and maybe thats why they gave me the tag. Cant remember and the car is 15000km awey at the moment :D. So enjoy your new APV .... we do .... I have a 2006 Chrysler and I had to repair one of the keys electronics which no longer worked. One of the battery holder leads had to be soldered. This required reprogramming the key afterward. I just had to insert the key in the ignition and do a bunch of special key presses in a certain order. Found out how to do it on the internet. The sister signed all the paperwork as did me and the wife , and after 2 cups of coffee and waiting for the guy to tint the windows we had our new car !! we are still waiting for seat covers ! And the GPS SD card ! which is meant to be an optional extra ! and at a cost of 8200 php ! but after I sent an email to Suzuki head office the SD card is now free ! just waiting for a phone call now to pick them up ! in the meantime we bought new made to measure seat covers from RL designs in Ace Hardware ! mind you its a lovely car ! Congratulations and happy motoring. That was only a minor hiccup according to locals living in Phils, regarding your car purchase. So, most people just park their cars on the sidewalk and people have to walk in the street. I've never seen a tow truck either when I was there.
