Kind of a personal to help me not a cook or a maid. Someone who can go shopping with me, arrange utilities, even banking. Kinna a girl Friday not too sure what a fair wage for her would be. that kind of asset would be of great help to me, another thing I would need is a driver, since I seen cabs are not in great supply in Cebu. I have only known of the situation you describe to happen once. Just once from all the expats I have known. The guy is filthy rich and pays her about 10,000 a month and gives her a small house on his property so she is there at his beck and call. Thanks.Mark Although it would be good to have someone do all these things my opinion it also would be good for you to learn to do it yourself. What happens when there is an error at the bank? will the girl understand or will you know what's going on? I wonder how many girl Fridays will come and go and in the mean time your left to do these things yourself. Where in Cebu are we, Cebu city, province? Although it's been quite awhile since I have been to Cebu city I hardly ever had a problem getting a taxi, Christmas and those sort of things were hard at the mall but other times of the year they were in abundance and dont forget uber now is also available. You could just find a good taxi driver or two and get a phone number for when you need them. I would say define girl also. I was thinking of a formidable old bat to help me because your average "girl" is going to be far too shy to look after your interests. Then too, those who are young and have great communication, organization, clerical skills and a good work ethic are going to have jobs already. All these skills plus drive? Well, after you have accomplished the near impossible, be ready to send her to driving school. Then you are faced with pay commensurate with ability. If I could find someone who could meet my standards for the things above I would be surprised if you could hire them for less than 25K to 30K a month and don't forget 13th and possibly 14th month pay. Luckily they should be able to handle their own human resources requirements for you as employer. Even at that, it would be incredibly cheap. You can't get people to flip burgers for that in the US. Like the other pointed out I would not have her do any banking but having someone show you how to do utilities would be helpful. What area of Cebu do you plan to live in, out in da province or Cebu City proper? Cabs are fairly easy to find in and around Cebu City. Other public transportation is doable out in the boonies. It could be you could find a cab driver nearby who would be willing to be a part time personal driver. We have done that and it worked well for us. Good luck.
