Stranded in San Jose City due to traffic cluster-fick

I went to SM City in Rosales yesterday morning to buy a TV and air condtioner. It's a 125 km drive from my home in Nueva Vizcaya to Rosales and usually a 3 hour drive. I was on my way home about 30 km out of San Jose City heading to my house in Aritao, about 70 km from San Jose City, when the traffic came to a complete stop. To get from San Jose City in Nueva Ecija to Aritao in Nueva Vizcaya you have to pass through the mountains. All it takes is one truck to overturn or breakdown to cause mayhem as there is only one lane in each direction.

I waited three hours and my car didn't move an inch nor where there any cars coming is the opposite direction. It turns out that a truck had overturned and was totally blocking traffic in both directions. After waiting three hours I decided to head back to San Jose City and rent a hotel for the night rather then end up sleeping in my car all night. So I drove back to San Jose City and rented a room for the night. There was no mobile signal where I was stopped so I couldn't call my wife to tell her what was going on. Naturally when I am 3 hours overdue she will panic.

Anyway I wake up the morning, check out, and at 8:30 am I start heading to my house. I was about 10km out of San Jose City when the traffic came to a complete stop, but only in the direction I was heading. Vehicles were able to travel south, it was only the north bound lane that was stopped. I asked a guy that was outside his car how long he had been waiting and he said three hours! This incident is unrelated to yesterday's fiasco as it was only about 10 km out of San Hose City and vehicles are able to travel south.

This is a new incident something is blocking the northbound lane, maybe a broken down truck but whatever it is it has completely stopped all traffic heading north. I just turned around and headed back to the same hotel I stayed at last night and checked in for another night. I am heading down to SaveMore to buy a bottle of vodka and some cranberry juice to help ease the pain. This hotel costs 1500p per night. I will try again tomorrow morning (extremely hung over) and hopefully this mess will have been cleared up and I can make it home to my family.:571c66d400c8c_1(103):

You must have a big sense of humour!  Vodka and Cranberry Juice now there is a good idea, it also sounds very healthy, does it have 'diet' properties?

Hope you get home safe and sound today - dearest A/C and TV you ever bought.

I like delivery. Reading this, I like even more.

They serve Abs*lute with cranberry already added in Sweden. Related by any chance? :mocking:

I don't know what I would do in this situation, maybe backtrack all the way or to a ferry to get past...maybe take off and nuke it from orbit because as they say, it's the only way to be sure.

Surely at some point some bright, enterprising law officer would think to stop traffic going one way for an hour so the traffic going the opposite direction could go? Maybe too much to ask.

Look on the bright side, if you had some bad Karma, it is probably greatly diminished or completely gone after this?

I have a house in Aglipay and last time home we got caught in the same traffic for over 4 hours on the way to Manila. Absolute nightmare and caused by roadblocking and poor control of the traffic.

Hope it gets better by Sept when I am back from UAE!
