Mati... Anyone?

The big city of Mati...

When someone thinks of paradise, they think of clean beaches, blue skies, light blue water and sipping a cool drink under a palm tree and reasonably quiet..  I think I found it...!  With just one of the beaches reaching over 7 kilometers, it can't be too bad, can it?  

Is anyone familiar with the city of Mati?  It's around the other side of the Davao Gulf and then across the narrow peninsula that forms gulf's eastern side (about 3 hours drive to Davao) and is the capital city of Davao Oriental.  Basically, it's a university town with mostly tourism, a lot of farming and a small bit of mining nearby but far enough out to not interfere with life in paradise...  Or so I've been told...  

Any information anyone can give me would be greatly appreciated!  This may be my new home soon..!!!

Looks idyllic!  And its over 50 KM from the latest NPA activity so must be safe .  But we needn't worry about that as Duterte is gonna fix it. 

 

But in all seriousness, apart from it being in Mindanao I would check it out in a heart beat.  But the Canadian government tells me not to go there (see the travel advisory site here) and says that any travel insurance I may have is void if I travel there.

that's funny!  why?  my medical insurance is PSHCP...  (Canadian) Public Service Health Care Plan...  and i'm covered...  lmao!!!

That's really good to know.  But you do realize I was just giving you a bit of a dig?  Its because you don't come back and post enough so we can all know what you are up to down there.
