PaulB Posted July 16, 2016 Posted July 16, 2016 For all you lucky guys and Gals who are already retired and living the Dream in the Philippines, if you could ask for ONE thing only from your old life in your home country what would it be? What one item do you miss? Paul

Popular Post chris49 Posted July 16, 2016 Popular Post Posted July 16, 2016 Hey Paul. Nothing. When you get to this stage of life you look forward, not backwards. Certain foods? But again, no. When you like something and have it everyday, you soon won't like it anymore.
AlwaysRt Posted July 16, 2016 Posted July 16, 2016 The first thing I thought of was an old friend of mine who always wanted two things, not one. He used to say he wanted a million dollars and a part-time wife hahaha. The second thing I thought of, and an actual answer to the question, was a tie between my 65inch 3D-TV that I was able to sit on the couch and read this forum and watch movies on, and a fully stocked grocery store. The third thing I thought of was a Super-Walmart. That way I would have access to a fully stocked grocery store, size 13 shoes, and any electronics I wanted... In the end though, if I really wanted those things I would leave, so I guess I am happy the way things are.
Dave Hounddriver Posted July 16, 2016 Posted July 16, 2016 I agree with Chris that the real answer is: I miss nothing from my old life. So now I will indulge in a bit of fantasy. What do I miss, even a little bit. I miss my big comfy expensive Sealy Posturpedic bed. I miss my big comfy expensive La-Z-Boy. I miss my big comfy expensive Dodge Durango. I miss my big fun holiday trailer and the weekend 'camping' trips that went along with that. But those things required me to work 6 days a week, lots of overtime, health and relationship problems and big pay checks with the accompanying big taxes. What I am saying is I do not miss any of those things when I realize that what I had was not worth what I had to put up with . . . well maybe the La-Z-Boy. Yeah, definitely the La-Z-Boy as that is the one luxury that I can afford on a pension if I am very, very careful.

My recliner was mission control with my wireless keyboard and mouse and a tv big enough to read text from across the room. And a bed with box springs and a real mattress - fantasy, pure fantasy. hahaha
