Bringing Dogs to The Philippines

Hi Everyone

We are planning our move in the next 2 to 3 years and coming along will be two spoilt dogs! Now I have seen the many Aso's on the streets in the Philippines and actually my Father in Law has some that are very territorial.

I think my two spoilt boys may find it tough to adjust but I wanted to ask any members if they had faced this issue and any advice they may have.

look forward to any suggestions or ideas (that don't include NOT bringing them)

Thank you.

Paul

No not at all but sometimes questions are asked over and over where there are answers.  Boils down to grumpy old shits such as I who get sick of members not searching for an answer before posting.

Make double sure that the airlines you use will transport your pets at the time you want to travel. I made reservations for our flight and asked if I could bring my pets( 2 pugchi's, pug chihuaha) One small enough to bring in the cabin under seat. Once you have the reservations, The marathon of form approvals begin:

Request form from Philippines agriculture. Filled out and approved by the PI Embassy

Vet clearance of parasite free, rabies and other shots up to date

USDA approval for travel

Proper shipping containers with the approved lettering.

Now where we got in trouble was the day we were prepared to leave, we called the airlines. They stated if we made reservations for our pets? Especially if you are going to be brought into the cabin. They permit only a few, and the waiting list was about 3 months long. Problem 2# We could ship them in the hold, but not during the blackout period in the summer due to heat. So after spending a couple thousand for vet approval, shots, containers travel to the embassy, paying out more money, did we get to ship our pets? No, because the airlines didn't tell us about the reservations or the blackout time. Tried 2nd alternative to commercially ship the two at a cost of $5000. I mean I love my dogs, but I couldn't accept to spend that much. So ultimately had to leave my beloved with my sister. Also if you ship your pets to PI, thry will stay there forever, because to ship them back, they are put in quarantine in Hawaii for 6 months, and guess how much room and board is for that?

Good luck to you! I only know a very few that were successful.
