I take 20,000-30,000 more dead to be a statement of intent, that druggies should not become comfortable.

Last year when 2,359 people were killed the police were barely trying to do anything about drugs? How about we add 1,268 for killed by police during criminal activities to that number =3,627. If the total of all killed is 3,760 the actual murder rate increase is a tiny blip. Then there is the 160 who died away from the crime scene (shot and ran? shot by their friends because the police could identify them?)? The actual personal murder rate, including any vigilante killings committed by people who are not police officers could be considered level or actually dropping compared to the 2015 rate?

Does no one remember the story related by member Bruce with pictures of the sick little girl failing to thrive, used by addict parents for begging? The parents sold her donated medicine and didn't even want someone else to bring the girl medicine daily to make sure she got it because the worse the girl got the more effective beggar she would be? Go look that up and then post that drastic measures are not necessary.

I wouldn't be surprised if virtually the same situation exists 5,000 times in other places in the Philippines, except possibly/probably nobody is trying to help the child. Maybe the child mortality rate should be added to the murder rate?

I took it to mean a Dutarte estimate of the number of drug dealers in the country.

1 death is too much.

Duterte and his program of mass death harks back to Germany in the 1930's. He admitted it himself, he said he is the Hitler of Asia

instead of killing, he should focus the police on doing their job...

no matter how many people this mass murderer kills, he will never get rid of the drug problem. Drugs will never go away, no matter how many people you kill.

Duterte is an ape, he is is a disgusting example of humanity.

i lived in Thailand during the Shinawat war on drugs. People died, innocent people died and nothing changed. Same here.

duterte needs to be gone.

The PI drug problem is a Chinese source without end. Until these sources become victims of justice the problem remains.
