Our neighbour that passed away on Xmas morning had his funeral yesterday so 13 days there and our brother law had 14 day viewing. My wife says 3 weeks is common for the people to raise money from the gamblers. After 1 week, the embalmer comes to give another injection. Sometimes, the relatives are overseas so it takes time for them to get here. I do find it unusual by western standards.

Our nephew's FIL that passed away also on Xmas day is having the funeral today, 14 days after.

Here is what they are charging on the donations.  I don't get it.  I thought it would be ~3%.  Sliding scale and/or dependent on what type of card you use??

P.S., a woman donated $50 but then refunded it.  I wonder why.

I think it would also depend on the currency a donators paypal is set up in. Conversion fees.

Update:

Gina was able to open an account at BDO in her maiden name.  That will make it less costly for me to give her money.

I only know what I gathered from comments on Facebook, mostly from cycling buddies.  Consider this hearsay.  

- Chris was riding alone

- A mini-dump truck was involved

- The driver stayed on scene, so it was not hit and run

- I have no idea if there were witness'
