Popular Post jpbago Posted March 2, 2017 Popular Post Posted March 2, 2017 (edited) Moderator's Note: Split from another topic as this thread seems to be more about what filipinas look for in a mate. 2 hours ago, Dave Hounddriver said: There is some truth in that and its got me thinking of looking for a wife on the terminal cancer ward of the hospital, paying for her palliative care, and buying her a house. Be sure she has no kids though. (I mean as long as we are looking at long shots we may as well consider this one ) You have simply reversed the plan of the Filipinas in finding an old fart. Do that 3 or 4 times and they are set for life. Edited March 2, 2017 by Dave Hounddriver

But I also see it happening right here in Dumaguete with females I know, and I am sad that so many old guys fall for it. And before people come down on me for being against age-gaps, what I am seeing is those particular females "cherry picking" guys who have one foot in the grave and a LOT of money.

I wonder how many of those 'guys' are being mistreated, sped along to the grave, vs have 'fallen for it' don't realize she is using him and is happy in his ignorance (are they actually being hurt by this situation?) vs guys that know and don't give a damn because they can't take it will them, why not go out happy?

Yes. There are quite a few who know they are being 'used' but are happy enough with what they are getting that they don't mind leaving it all behind for the one who treats him right in his final days. Its a shame, but so many of these old guys have grown kids who have disowned the old bugger and will get cut out of the will.

It used to be the guys doing the cherry picking. The cherry picking here is in finding an American who can father 1 or more children so they can get the SS allowance for 18 years plus American passports to sponsor the mother to USA when the allowance stops.

Yes I was thinking about previous kids as I was typing but skipped it as a whole subject on it's own. Everyone should have a will their kids and wife are aware of, especially those with significant assets. If you were smart enough to earn it, and smart enough to save it, hopefully you are smart enough to have it go where you want after you are gone. (all though in many cases not in fact smart enough or just don't give a damn).

You are correct, but different girls have different tastes so there are the ones who pick as you suggest and then there are the ones who pick 80+ year old guys with diabetes in a wheelchair with a lot of money and a short life expectancy. When this is her third husband you sense a pattern. There are also young girls who cherry pick a young guy who will marry them and get them out of the country so they can divorce him once they have citizenship anywhere else but here. Lots of cherries to pick from . . but how did we get so far off the topic of buying land? *Sigh* now i gotta put my moderator hat on and go back and split the thread 12

Popular Post Snowy79 Posted March 2, 2017 Popular Post Posted March 2, 2017 Spooky as I was just going through this very subject in my head yesterday after my current (under probation) partner highlighted it. I've got a good mate here who is about 2 yrs older than me but looks like he had a newspaper round in the Himalayas. He's a heavy smoker and drinker with a pretty wife who is about 12yrs younger. I know his wife well and she is a great girl who does love my friend. They have been married over 13 yrs and known each other longer. She has her own money and businesses. I went away with her and some Filipinos to climb a mountain in Malaysia and my partner was giving me grief for going away with these people and warning me to be careful and to behave. I told her to wind her neck in as my friends wife is OK with him doing things and vice versa. She said "I know he's your friend but the only women throwing themselves at him are after money and they won't get it as he's married" She also said his wife could trust him also as he's not attractive that's why she's not bothered if he goes out on his own. She then went on to pretty much savage her friends and fellow country women. She said that " no pretty, intelligent young Filipino girl is going to go with a Foreigner who is a lot older than her unless she has known him a long time and grown to like him." They only go for the guys for money and a better lifestyle unless they have been friends first and not pen friends. When I returned to Manila the area I live in has lots of well paid local jobs and every day I see thousands of pretty Filipino girls walking around none of whom have foreign boyfriends and most just walk past you without batting an eyelid yet when I've been out in poor areas and the provinces I'm fighting the women off with a shi@@y stick and they're always looking for an excuse to talk to you and usually ask within the first 5 minutes if you're married. Even on the dating sites I was getting young stunners asking me to marry them without knowing anything about me. I fully understand the older guy with enough money to burn and not enough time to spent it having a great time in his last few years with a young attractive girl. It's part of my plan also but I must admit I roll my eyes when I read some guys that have fallen in love on line and are coming over to marry or has already paid to have a house built for their girlfriend. I also get the young girl that thinks she has hooked a sucker then over time falls in love with the guy as he turns out to be a great bloke. I'm actually good friends with a girl that I turned down as she was too young. I've known her for over a year now and she is 100% genuine. She has had an older foreigner boyfriend who was just a playboy. Going out with lots of girls yet she kept taking him back as that was his only bad vice as she saw it. He's about 30yrs older than her and working shifts as a chef earning about 20,000 php per month with no pension. I pointed out that in 10yrs time he'll be in a zimmer frame and unable to work but she just said "I'll work harder for both of us, do two jobs if I have to." There are good ones out there and if you have one well done. If you haven't got one just hold on and enjoy the ride.

And . . because they are young, they are more likely to change over time so even a good one may change her mind so the advice of "enjoy the ride" holds true for all of us. None of us know what life holds a year from now. And its not just filipinas who don't know what they want. I just heard from one of my ex's today. A Canadian girl who broke my heart 30 years ago and still remains friendly to me to this very day. One reason she was the way she was, back then, is that she was still in love with her "first love", the father of her child. But they didn't get on and went their separate ways and she could never get past it. So what happened? She went through many live ins and a couple of husbands and never replaced her first love. NOW I hear that she and her first love have been living together for a couple years and they are doing great. Ain't love grande? So the moral of the story is: Many girls all over the world marry or get it relationships due to love, but it may not be you they love
