Why do Philippine hot dogs (Virginia brand specifically) come with a condom on and full of red dye?

I buy Johnsonville Brats for hot dogs and other times with sauer kraut.

I did try Virginia Brand once, just once. Same condom problem.

Yes refrigeration is a great idea for those that can afford but a condom on your hot dog out of the fridge? How long will it last? Filipinos have iron guts's.

It will last until it is sold. At the market, the weiners sit on the tables 16 hours a day everyday with no refrigeration. The buns will last a few weeks. On the Ocean Jet, there was about 10 hot dogs on the counter on the way there and the same 10 on the way back. A worker was carefully inspecting each one for obvious signs.

A nephew had lost some weight so I asked how he was able to do it. He said "Diarrhea for 2 weeks." I have bought plenty of loperamide for others. I saw a guy dropping his "iron guts" on Osmena Blvd in Cebu.

Most go to the market 3 times everyday because of no frios.

Have not found a hotdog I like yet here. All salty and just not what l like.

I agree JGF, there is nothing nice I can say about a hot dog - synthetic rubbish. Give me a good Aussie burger anyday (with beetroot).

here is a picture of the best hot dogs in America I used these when I was a Chef, Nathan or Hebrew are the ones I used,  in the Philippines the best one I found being a Philippine hot dog is the Giant hot dog by Pure Food Tasty Hot Dogs the cost is around 180 peso for 8 dogs the best way is to boil them all hot dogs are on the salty side   give these a try you will not be sorry

The plastic sleeves are a turnoff for me. Can I say that?

Yes.  I find that I like to stick to one brand which I know that I like (Virginia) and then I know I can safely remove the plastic sleeve before inserting the wiener into the saucepan.  Its not like its going to fall apart when it gets wet.  It plumps up a bit as it heats up but that's all.  In fact, leaving the plastic on restricts it from plumping up so the end result is often a horribly misshapen wiener!
