If you're married and have taken on the family then the children of the family would be within the 4th degree of consanguinity in the majority of cases I would have thought?

Unless they're not counting consanguinity granted by marriage?

I doubt that who ever wrote the script would not even know what that meant.

They forget all the laws they make in the past that are never enforced, then create new ones and OH! let's go foreigner Bashing again

As said, a very badly written  section 3 especially and a law that needs some re writing, A Spanish Town Mayor once told me, if you really want to find the truth you must look to your own, In fact, last week a 50 year old (Local) in our Barangay was arrested for raping his 16+ year Old niece. NO! damn right we did not hear about it Officially But.......................:571c66d400c8c_1(103):

Not going to sour my day even thinking about this.

They aren't that crazy, would be nuts not being able to care for your own step children.

Makes me squirm though. My wife's 16 yr old sister lives with us... no problem so far. I suppose I am breaking the law if her classmates come to our house and practice for festival in our front yard when I am the only adult here. As I said earlier, I am all for protecting kids from the creeps lurking out there, but writing a law that puts me in with them just by providing a place to practice is pathetic.

Just don't hurt their feelings.  All it takes is one to take offense with something you have said or done and go running to the correct authorities and you will be guilty until proven innocent.

But not to worry, your friends will bring you food in jail :cryingwhilelaughing_anim:  . .  I laugh about it but if memory serves then its a non-bailable offense so you are not only guilty until proven innocent but you may be in jail until proven innocent.  :SugarwareZ-034:

There's a wave of child abuse and trafficking everywhere, and the Philippines is a magnet for filth.

In the meantime in the US, Trump is busting pedophile rings all over the country and passing legislation to combat human trafficking

Sex traffickers took hundreds from Thailand to US http://archive.is/BhsEV

Sex Trafficking Arrests Soar; MSM Ignores http://archive.is/VQesR

Sessions Declares Fight Against Elite Pedophiles A Top Priority http://archive.is/NiDB9

238 arrested in sweep of suspected child sex predators http://archive.is/Gu0Sg

Marshalls Seek Unregistered Sex Offenders, Arrest 12 http://archive.is/HmsMn

84 kids rescued, 120 human traffickers arrested http://archive.is/cS2VE

DOJ Arrests More than 1,000 Child Sex Predators http://archive.is/tF1bz

By the time Trump is done, a lot of foul people in high places will be taken down.

Perhaps that is the intent; pass vague laws to make it easy to 'round us up'.

Well, since we stand out with our white skin and long nose, no need to use an approach like; wearing a yellow Star of David.

Paranoid? Maybe.

The more I think abou this - well, I imagine the law would be modified as to not trap us innocent types just sitting at a table drinking coffee and some curious kid sits down, or walks up to say 'Hey Joe'.   Interesting times we live in for sure.   Just hoping for the best.

Yes, all them posts are a danger to us long noses. When I'm over there I have told the wife never leave me alone with any small child present. This forum is not only good for us to read, but also our partners. Seeing these posts, help them understand our feelings and bridges that language barrier that we can't translate. I like the children and their antics, but I'm always mindful of my presence around them, so is my wife now, thanks all.

One thing that has changed is that if a Filipino adult is there you`re ok where as before you both had be related to the youngster. So maybe it is a little better for us because it could just be a doorman, waiter, waitress who is there and you are covered.Who knows what goes in peoples minds anywhere who make laws.

It is just this type of thing that reinforces the need for a viable exit (escape?) plan, regardless of how innocent we might be . Providing you can get out of jail that is :Caught:

Some people on this thread seem worried by this law, but is there really any reason to be, as long as your motives are perfectly innocent and you have some "connection" to the child? If some busybody reported you to the police, don't the police use their common sense? There must be lots of people on Philippines Expat Forum who have a wife or partner who has a child or children - has anybody had, or know of others who have had, problems for some perfectly normal thing like walking to the sweet shop with your gf's nephew?

I would guess that people don't need to worry about ordinary activities, especially when the gf/wife or her family member is nearby, but I would advise against e.g. travelling to another town with your gf/wife's child, but without her.

Several people have been arrested such as waiting for a ferry or being in a resort with a minor whether their intentions are normal or not you still have to do what the law says. Hotels must report any suspicious things such as a foreigner with a minor without investigating who the minor is so could just cause a headache.
