DSL (ADSL and ADSL2 and VDSL) are systems that use existing voice telephone lines to transmit your internet.  LTE uses 4G mobile phone wireless to transmit your internet.

Not dumb and you pretty much got it. DSL or cable have a box connected to a line ran from the street. I have a router/modem that has a sim slot like a phone does, it connects to the cell tower via a wire that runs from the box to an outside antenna.
