The last night in davao approaches, this trip has reinforced my ambition to move out here , I just love my jungle hut

I've worked the numbers ,its very doable, my target is to return next may ,I have family commitments to attend to first  ,uve got to start selling my stuff

The farm in the hills above davao is just my idea of a perfect place to live , I could not live in the baranguy

Follow your dream - we're a long time dead!

Your posts certainly make interesting reading and I feel happy for you,  it appears a dream is turning into reality.

While I certainly wish you happiness I would exercise a degree of restraint in having to many eggs here. This is a country where situations mostly out of our control can an do change, at times radically.

Can recall and old proverb about the 40%60 rule that many adhere to. Most of us whom have lived here a number of years can share some quite frightening stories.

Having said this many including myself live here very happily, we'll mostly.....

Thank you for those words of advice , ill be leaving most of my assets in the UK and ive even sorted out my will ,so that my kids dont have to deal with probate and stuff like that  , I also had three job offers on my answering phone lol , there's always the option of working for another 10 years or so , I'm very good at what I do .

I left my gf at the airport in tears , she tried to persuade me to stay even to the point of offering to look after me financially ,she said that we can live on her salary ,I guess I found a good woman , she's not the prettiest in town , if I was just after a young woman for sex I'd have taken up one of the many offers from 20 year olds .

I came home last night to an empty house , it felt very lonely , I rang up my kids to let them know I was back , but it still felt lonely .

I've got to put my plans into action now , it will take about 6 months I estimate to sort things out , I've got a wedding in July to go to , my daughter's getting engaged in March, and ive got a family vacation to Barbados in April to deal with first .

As long as you keep your finances secured away from the Philippines as much as possible you'll have a good life over here.

If you felt lonely when you got home I think it'll be a bonus that you've got a back up condo in civilisation. A remote farm away from the Barangay could be good for an escape but I think come the rainy season it could also be a jail sentence. I'm a bit of a loner but still like to people watch. I think after a few weeks stuck in doors I'd get cabin fever.

Maybe even after a few days watching Filipino soaps and making small talk with my partner I'd be carried away by people in white coats. :hystery:

The best laugh was last night ,the dinner escaped , one guy and I admire his knowledge and skill took it down 45kilo pig was pissed off

Did you know they can escape even after being made into lechon?  When my wife and I married we asked to have the lechon pig already carved up to speed the serving line for 200 guests.  We were first in line of course and as I was admiring the pig the man behind me said. "Sir, your pig is too short, someone stole part of the middle and pushed the ends back together!" :hystery::hystery::hystery:
