bastonjock Posted January 27, 2019 Posted January 27, 2019 They recently found the grave of Captain Matthew Flinders , he was the navigator who proved 5hat Tasmanian was an island and was the first to circumnavigate Australia to prove that it was a continent. As parts of HS2 , (super fast train line ) they have been digging up tons of archeological sites in preparation for expansion etc , they have known that there was an old graveyard partially buried bu Euston Station and during excavations they got lucky and found Captain Flinders remains , he had a lead plaque on his coffin and unlike the tin plaques of others his had not deteriorated So happy Australia day to captain Flinders 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
