When they first started it, in Cebu, they had the messy ink with nothing to clean up with and the took prints from all fingers before I ever got an ECC and I got many of them (at the old Mactan office).  Since I started getting them at the new at the J Mall office they just tell me to put my thumb on the little electronic doo dad so I assume it is an electronic fingerprint?  They do the same to get a driver's license at Robinsons.  But maybe I just look like the criminal type.

 Stay over 6 months sometime and you will need one to leave this place EMIGRATION CLEARANCE CERTIFICATE This is to check you have no arrest warrants against you while you were here  and you owe no one any Money and your Immigration Status is all paid up

Would this also be required for those on a 13A visa? I ask because the last time I asked at BIR in Iloilo they said I didn't need one if I exited.

On a 13a you get the ECC at the airport it takes about 5 mins and cost just under 3k.

I am surprised you were told this! anyone on a 9 ( after 6 months stay) or 13 Visa must get an ECC, there does seem to be confusion over this so i put up the Latest BI page on the ECC for your perusal ( and those that are unclear)

I'm not surprised you're surprised!

As always, I knew what I mean but forgot that you guys are not mind readers! What I meant was that I was told by the BIR that there is no requirement to get the ECC in advance from the BIR, it can be paid for at the airport.

Does one need any extra documents (apart from passport) when departing shortly before one's Balikbayan 12 months runs out.... ie, for your visa run, with the Mrs ?

I was intending to get an ACR card anyway... for Philhealth application purposes. We have a BI office in Dagupan.
