Emma has always enjoyed cooking and she can make some great food dishes and now we are both retired she has started to try to make more dishes and now cake too.

Well here is me trying to keep fit and exercise daily and I am doing very well, but these last few weeks it’s hard not to eat all she makes, home made pizza on Sunday, Scones was made the next day, then yesterday she was going to make rock buns but we had no raisins or sultanas  so I thought I was safe , but later on she produced these cakes made with chocolate chips inside and once you had one or two well why not have three or four.

We have raisins and sultanas now so I am either going to be a little fatter or have to get a bigger tin, jar to save them for another day, last night I had two homemade rock buns with custard, yum yum.

Hopefully Emma is going to France for a few months very soon, that’s going to help my waistline lots.

I found my self drinking way too many beers when I was home alone, especially when eating my 'giant steaks' ... not a great way to lose weight

but it was an enjoyable way to pass the time when my Rowena was waitng (in the Phils) for her visa approval to come join me in the States. :cheersty:

Haven't had a good Rib-eye steak with baked potato and sour cream with chives since I moved here in 2002. I'll bet it would taste good though, 'mouth watering'

There is a great Texas style steak house in Alabang as well as a Tony Romas. There is also an honest to god 1st class Ruth Kris type and quality steak house at the city of dreams casino (but bring your platinum credit card :hystery:)

Texas Joes out here in Subic has a lot of good choices, but I have only been a few times.  There is a new place out here called Slabs that serves American beef but I have not been yet.

Somebody posted pictures of Texas Joes menu here:

I used to get the day old cakes , about $8 for a great big Black Forest chocolate or Carrot cake but that could not have been doing my waist line nor blood sugar any good. Now I keep a box cake mix which can be made in about 30 mins. Cheap, half the cals with no icing, and no need to leave the house.

Scott, Is that Texas steak house near ATC owned by a Japanese gentlemen, or maybe the chef was Japanese?  Anyway we ate there a couple years ago and the steak was as good as any I had back in the states.  Need to go there again soon.

That's it,,,,,,,,,,in the Molito Plaza. If you don't let them put the house steak sauce on it, its as good as back home. Like you said a lot of the add on's are for the Japanese taste.

I guess you need a lot of dough to go there......Oh yes were was I...... Cooking and Baking

My friend and his wife called round one evening and the wife had just made a cake, he tucked into the cake and a few days later he told me about a strange dream he had that night. So scary about Satan.

I never did tell him the cake mix which the wife used ( sort of chocolate mix) was called Devil's Cake!

Strange but true, the wife has never bought it since!
