German 'online trafficker' nabbed in Lapu-Lapu July 10, 2019 A 41-YEAR-OLD German national was nabbed for his alleged involvement in online trafficking in Sitio Suba-Masulog, Barangay Basak, Lapu Lapu City Wednesday morning, July 10, 2019. Members of the Women and Children Protection Center-Visayas Field (WCPC-VF) Central Visayas identified the suspect as Daniel Wiedmann. His three-year-old son was also rescued during the operation. WCPC-VF Chief Police Colonel Romeo Perigo said Wiedmann was arrested inside his house through the serving of a search warrant issued by Judge Ramon Daomilas of RTC 7, Branch 11. Perigo said they were tipped by the Australian government of Wiedmann’s illegal activities. Weidmann allegedly invited young children inside his house and recorded and uploaded their footages online. “When we received the information, we conducted surveillance and online engagement. After we confirmed, we applied for a search warrant against him,” Perigo said. He added that the suspect is also wanted in other countries, prompting the Bureau of Immigration to join the operation. Recovered from the suspect are laptops and cameras which are subjected to forensic examination. Perigo said Weidmann has a Filipina live-in partner and has been living in Lapu-Lapu City since October 2018. Weidmann will face charges for violation of RA 10175 or the Cybercrime Prevention Act.
