I thought I would let you know that I found a speaker system, here in Davao, that will fulfill our needs for TV and music sound for a while. Yesterday I found a nice Sony "Home Theatre System," and, after listening to it with some of my music in the store, bought it. As everything, it is not perfect... But it is pretty nice and L loves it! The bad part is that it is challenging to make adjustments to sound quality and distribution between sub-woofer, sound bar and rear, surround speakers. Yeah, I figured it out, but I am certain a 12 year old kid would have done it a lot easier and faster! But the sound is awesome... Supposedly 600 watts rms, but I don't believe that. The lights in the apartment would dim and the aircons would probably cut out! But it is nice and we can't run it past about half volume (with clean, clear sound and no distortion) before our ears hurt and we might alienate all our noisy, dog-loving neighbours...hahaha... This system will work for us in the apartment and also in the new house, for a long while. Then, eventually, we will go for the really super system like what old suggested. Anyone interested, it is a Sony HT-RT40. Just listening to a really incredible version of "Dazed and Confused," by Led Zeppelinan - absolutely amazing!!!! Perhaps one of the best things is that I purchased it here in Davao, it carries a on-year warranty and there is a Sony Service Center here and it is not too far away from us... Lots of pluses that we hope will prove positive for us! I also wanted to thank everyone who offered advice - especially Old, JGF, Geoff, OMW and the others! graham59 Posted July 20, 2019 Posted July 20, 2019 Well if it lasts as long as my Sony system... which must be at least 20 years old now. lol It is the 'traditional 2 cabinet system though, but does have a (extra) big sub-woofer facing out of the back of the cabinets. L still loves me after listening to the new sound system... I am very pleased with the sound....
