Yes, my GF at the time had family that lived there. I don't remember very much except a pair of nice Japanese Pagodas.

I read there is a population of 2.773 million so at least that many have been there. :hystery:

Hi JGF. No, I have not been to that city. However L and I flew to Taipei one year ago.

We found that prices are generally high- especially for restaurants - compared to Philippines. We also found that street food vendors were not so expensive and much of that food was very good.

It is a super modern country and feels very western. The people were very friendly and helpful to us.

We hope you enjoy your time there!

My thoughts on Kaohsiung which is the second biggest city in Taiwan.

Firstly I was in the central business district so thats all I can comment on.

Nice city from what I seen. Clean and modern. No phone lines hang all over the place and good sidewalks.

Good rail system and easy to get around.

Can't really comment on food as hardly had any local type but didn't look appetising from what l seen but sure there are many good foods there.

Have to watch for scooters on the sidewalk as often they ride on parts of them.

No beggars and seen only maybe 4 homeless on the street.

Biggest problem is hardly any English is spoken so if using taxi need either pictures of where you want to go or a translating app.

Very large mall but not many people in it.

Good place for a short stay for a visa run and feels very safe.

Would I live there ? If I did I would have to learn the language otherwise it would be a nightmare. I liked it but the eye candy is rare considering here in the Philippines is full of very attractive women. Not that I was looking :whistling:
