Turns out there might be corruption in the lotto system, maybe even "massive" curruption.  Kind of shocking.  :mocking:

MANILA, Philippines—President Rodrigo Duterte has ordered all gaming activities of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO), including lotto, stopped due to alleged “massive corruption” in the agency.

In a video message posted by Malacañang on Facebook, Duterte lamented how courts supposedly got into corruption by issuing injunctions to stop the government from going after the perpetrators of fraudulent activities.

Following this announcement, Philippine National Police chief, Gen. Oscar Albayalde, told radio station DZMM early Saturday that police teams would be deployed “first thing in the morning” to shut down lotto and other PCSO gaming outlets throughout the country.

“I have today ordered the closure, the stoppage of all gaming schemes or whatever nature however done that got the franchises to do so from the PCSO. The ground is massive corruption involving all…pati the courts who repeatedly issued injunctions to paralyze government and to allow corruption to thrive,” Duterte said in the video posted late Friday night.

Duterte’s order includes PCSO’s Lotto, Small Town Lottery (STL) and Peryahan ng Bayan.

“Pending investigation, lahat ho ng laro ng lotto, STL, Peryahan ng Bayan, or whatever nature, there’s one that ‘yung gambling machine, Keno, I said all gaming activities. ‘Yung gambling, that got the franchise from (the) government through PCSO, are, as of today, suspended or terminated because of massive corruption,” he said.

The PCSO has been around since 1934 and has helped a lot of poor filipinos with medical care and at the same time made a lot of corrupt individuals rich. It needs a major overhaul. Maybe they should look into the Chinese casinos also.

People with some Power and here it is the Top saying this.Usually Stop what they can't Control and it sounds like the Control is to be taken away from Him or at least attempted which is how I see it from the Reports I have Read.

 Food for thought here?

I think I said this before in another thread.  The Chinese online casino business is becoming a big bubble ready to burst.  If Duterte changes his mind and decides he does not like it that business, he could shut it down.  Or the Chinese could pressure him to shut it down.  Or the Chinese can shut it down themselves.  When it happens, and all the workers go home, the property prices in Manila are going to tank.  For that reason, if Duterte were smart about it, he should phase it out.  It must be a hotbed of corruption and organized crime.

We have ongoing controversy about the Chinese workers.  The latest was a few nights ago.  An expat resident lives next to a "dorm house" and at 0230 he confronted the Chinese residents about their loud noise.  There was a big argument even though the Chinese involved do not really speak English.  They use a translator on their phone.  One of the Chinese flipped a cigarette at the guy.  He found it later smoldering in mattress cover that was on his lanai.  He accused them of attempted arson and called the police.  Later found out that none of them have proper IDs to be living here in our area.  Not sure of their immigration status.

Got back from my afternoon drive about 30 min. ago. Both Lotto places where we usually get a 20P ticket were shut down. Sign on the front said why but can't remember what it said.:crashh:

Interesting though that Duterte is also talking about more online casinos with the Philippine Gambling and Amusement corp.  Both of these are government owed so you would think that both are ripe for corruption.  The PAGCO though is generating more revenue for the government.

consistent or not?😁

Corruption?

Nothing more corrupt than the schools that send out envelopes for people to "donate" to help with all the "expenses" of dancing and singing and festivals.  Why corrupt?  The parents doing the collecting get paid 50% of what they collect.  It goes in their own pockets to help with their own kids expenses . . .  hmmmm.  Secret.  I am not supposed to tell.  Guys who have wives who know mine please don't mention it to your wife or they will tell my wife to stop telling me what is going on.  Perhaps other schools don't do that but our kid's school does.  I don't like it one bit.  We pay tuition and that should be the end of it.

Now to tie this in with the lottery thread.  There are lotteries in Canada but the proceeds go to the school kids extra curricular activities etc etc so they don't need that kind of crap (unless things have changed since my kids went to school there.)
