"P2" Posted August 29, 2019 Posted August 29, 2019 Hey Guys Do any of you engage in shooting sports? You know, Clays, skeet, Trap, Rifle and Pistol shooting? I do here where I live in the US and enjoy it quite a bit. I also own firearms as well. Should I decide to move to the Philippines, will I be able to bring my firearms with me? Are there shootings ranges/gun clubs there? What are the rules regarding firearms and ammunition. Educate me on what it takes to own firearms there. I would hate to give up something that I enjoy doing here in the US should I move to the Philippines. Thanks again for all of your help! 1
Forum Support Old55 Posted August 29, 2019 Forum Support Posted August 29, 2019 No, as a visitor Foreigner we can not own guns. Yes, there are ranges that you may rent or borrow guns to shoot a target at that range. Rough rules about guns. As a Foreigner you are not allowed to own shoot or protect yourself with a gun.
robert k Posted August 29, 2019 Posted August 29, 2019 No foreigner possessed bows or powerful air rifles either from what I understand. You can have airsoft, but don't travel with it during election time. 1
graham59 Posted August 29, 2019 Posted August 29, 2019 Don't even think about it. Plenty of guns here, but mostly in the wrong hands.
"P2" Posted August 29, 2019 Author Posted August 29, 2019 Wow.... I had no idea.... Moving to the Philippines does mean giving up some of those freedoms (rights and protections for that matter) we enjoy....
graham59 Posted August 29, 2019 Posted August 29, 2019 Maybe you need to read up a bit on countries outside of the the good ol USA. Basically, you as foreigner REALISTICALLY have no rights in the Philippines, unless you can BUY them, so perhaps give that some thought too. 'All that glitters is not gold'. 2

As a visitor to a foreign country you must obey the laws of that country. What you need to understand visiting Philippines 🇵🇭 requires you to understand all the rules a visitor must adhere to. For example if the taxi you are a passenger in is hit by a truck that ran a red light you could be held accountable. An extreme example but. "P2" Posted August 29, 2019 Author Posted August 29, 2019 Well... if I plan on retiring to the Philippines I would be giving up any freedoms/rights that I enjoy here in the US. I understand that. It's just something that I have to think about now where as I have never had to before...

Some guys can’t and living there was difficult even dangerous in their case.

I have known too many foreign friends get into trouble because they will not give up the rights and freedoms they enjoy in the USA. The smart ones went back to the US, the really stubborn ones are buried here, and the rest go to MacDonalds for breakfast and complain to other like minded foreigners how things here need to change to be more like the US. 7
