Marvin Boggs Posted September 18, 2019 Posted September 18, 2019 List up the things that you had difficulty finding at first, or still can't find, or have an unusual craving for. We've all been there, so it will be fun to compare! -real mayonnaise -bagels -chapstick -Corona -ketchup -good beef -Tums -protein bars -lunch meat -cheeses -individual razor blades -anti-sieze compound for threads -fuel resistant RTV -3/8" drive ratchets / sockets (but a lot of 1/4 and 1/2 everywhere) 2
sonjack2847 Posted September 18, 2019 Posted September 18, 2019 Not sure about the ratchet, Corona or real mayonnaise but you can get the rest here in Dumaguete. My opinion is that these are wants and not essentials but yes there are things I get cravings for. Myself and another member on here just had a BB box with some UK products delivered here I will see now how much my taste buds have changed or not.

It depends, I think, on your location... Here in Davao I find in most grocery stores: real mayonnaise - Best Foods brand and Lady's Choice Heinz ketchup San Mig beers - I think they are much better (and cheaper) than Corona - which can be found sometimes also protein bars or granola bars in many stores lunch meat in deli section of a number of groceries lots of really great Australian cheeses almost everywhere The rest of your list: plain, whole wheat and raisin bagels can be had at S & R but they don't have onion bagels there's fairly good beef at S & R, but you have to be picky as some is better than others - and you will pay a price lunch meat and cheeses are available at various deli type shops - Swiss Deli and some others here 3/8" socket drives and sockets at Citi Hardware and sometimes at Ace or Handyman, also check at WilCon - depends on the store Chapstick is available at Watson's Drugs or Mercury - I forgot now which. But they don't carry the sun-block version Tums never did much for me - I prefer baking soda and/or Zantac - I have not sought nor seen Tums Never looked for razor blades or anti-seize or fuel resistant RTV, but Ace or Handyman would be the place to go Good luck with your search. Hope this gives you a bit of direction. I just learned to do without a few things or get them sent if they seem critical to me. Or pick them up when I go abroad somewhere. To be fair, I'm not a foodie of any sorts so I can make do with alternatives or do without completely. Most of the stuff on the list is at S&R. Replace Tums with baking soda is my only suggestion. It's actually better than Tums. And why would you need an individual razor blade? Planning something? 2

Gary D Posted September 18, 2019 Posted September 18, 2019 Most things are available in the Philippines, the real problem is the SO doesn't know where to look for them.

Marvin Boggs Posted September 18, 2019 Author Posted September 18, 2019 Oh don't get me wrong, I ended up finding most of these things. Yes its true often times its because the SO never heard of it, and doesn't know where to look haha. Individual razor blades are still elusive. Perfect for scraping old ugly tint off your car windows. Yes I made do with other types of blades, but when I find some good-old razor blades I'm buying the whole box :)
