No, they are all true stories.  Funny when we look back, but often frustrating when they happen.

Correct how ever try tell family or friends back home whom never been here.

Thought this worth a mention as even after having quite low expectations this takes customer care to whole new level.

Took my Chevi into Chevi franchise Bacolod for oil an filter change. Well after being told of the hoops to run through, papers, plus OR, OCR and such was ready to leave car in their tender care.

Oh Sir so sorry we are out of stock of oil....so sorry.  Kinda shocked me....What about client coming from far away I asked, yes sir they get very angry. But, do not worry sir just give me your cell number and we shall text you when we have oil. Yeh pigs may fly....

Another day in the Philippines.

I gave up on Chevy service.  Blew off the warranty and the long drive to Clark.  I do my oil changes at a Petron station with 15/40 semi-synthetic, every 5000 km.  Had it done this past Thursday.  P1501 total for service charge (300) and 6 liters of the oil.  I provided the GM oil filter.  I think Chevy would charge around 5-6 k for that.  Only one guy does the oil changes there and he knows the Trailblazer now.  He cleaned up my engine bay really nice after the change too, and I tipped him for that.

Thinking about switching to another guy across the street who has a nice, clean and neat offroad center.  His pre-schooler goes to my kid's school so I know him a bit.  A lot of expats are using him and he seems like a really nice and knowledgeable guy.

When I find someone who does exactly what I want him to do, I stop looking for another guy.  Any reason for the change, beyond following the other guys?

Well, the Petron has one grungy little work area with a lift and one grungy little "mechanic".  The only service they do there is oil change and they only have a few tools.  The first time he did my Trailblazer a few years back he had to run off and borrow a tool.  The Trailblazer is a bit of a pain to change the oil filter as you have to take the air cleaner housing off to get to it.

Tires HQ has 3 bays, a small retail shop, the latest high tech equipment, and full service.  They built a new building and opened about 2 years ago.  What impresses me about the place is that they have kept the place spotless and organized the whole time.

They specialize in installing 4X4 offroad suspension upgrades but do everything.  I have a lot of things to do on my 4X4 Trailblazer in the near future.  Auto transmission fluid change, suspension work, etc.  The oil change is just a small part of the work I would like them to do, and as I mentioned, I already know the owner and his toddler goes to school with my kids.

Add by edit:  Both places are literally 5 minutes of no traffic driving from my house, and the owner of Tyres HQ said he could have one of his guys take me back to my house during longer services.

Of course, I have to have some work done in order to make a final judgement

On a similar vein - I was in Dunkin Donuts and wanted the meal deal for 3, which included 3 hot coffees or 3 iced coffees.  I asked for 2 hot and 1 Iced - "Sorry sir, you cannot mix the drinks - it's 3 of one style only".  Beyond belief at times!

I have a comment that carries on, but I placed it in "Food" rather than "Oil Change Please."

Reminds me an incident when we made our permanent move.  We brought two dogs so we spent two nights in Makati so the dogs could rest up from the flight, prior to flying again to Mactan.  In the morning we take the dogs out for their walk.  I come to a coffee shop and try to go in, but the door is locked.  I look at the sign and it says they open at 7:00 am, check my watch and it is 7:20.  There is a guy inside so I rap on the door and he comes over, "Sorry sir we are not yet open".  I say, "what time do you open?"  "Sir we open at 7:00".  What time is it I ask.  "Sir it is 7:20". :whistling:
