I know they are space saving etc etc but they'd be a last resort for me. I'd go for concrete personally - even spiral would work if concrete. No offence to anyone with metal spiral staircases! I erected a nice wide spiral staircase to the up stairs patio. Thrilled with it and have zero problems. Was painted in epoxy enamel some 5 years ago and still looks like new. The floor was a solid netting, around 3 meters high, cost I think close to P30K not cheap but will out see me. The center pole is huge (Not home at moment) think 6inch.
