If you have unlimited funds, stainless steel is the way to go.

I have wondered what the cost is for stainless steel gates, etc.  In Olongapo, there is an area where all the metal workers are, and some of them have fairly nice houses attached.  I have seen a stainless spiral staircase at one that goes up to one of the upper levels, maybe to the roof.

Completely irrelevant I know, but I really, really dislike spiral staircases - they remind me so much of the 70s.  I know they are space saving etc etc but they'd be a last resort for me.  I'd go for concrete personally - even spiral would work if concrete.

No offence to anyone with metal spiral staircases!

I erected a nice wide spiral staircase to the up stairs patio. Thrilled with it and have zero problems. Was painted in epoxy enamel some 5 years ago and still looks like new. As said a huge space saver.

A picture would be nice...cost, material used, etc ?

I too am just deciding what route to take (pardon pun) as regards access to my new roof patio.

They used large GI pipes and from memory 6mm steel up rights. The floor was a solid netting, around 3 meters high, cost I think close to P30K not cheap but will out see me. The center pole is huge (Not home at moment) think 6inch.  What impressed me was the preparation before painting.

And why not paint it a heat reflective color like white? Why they like red and green on the roofs is kinda stupid.:facepalm_80_anim_gif:

This is something I dont understand either, why do they keep putting dark colors on their roofs????
