Any ideas where I can buy or rent a 12 foot double ladder or more, plus are there places that you can hire tools or is it you just have to buy these goods.

We just bought a ladder from ace hardware it folds in four giving an 8 foot step or 16 foot ladder or a 4 foot high 8 foot long trestle. we paid about 3.5k for it.

One (or two) of those items I wish I could have economically shipped from the UK.  So useful, and light-weight.

Most here just make them from bamboo and wire, as needed... but heavy things.

What attracted me to the one we bought from ace was what looked like a steardy construction, definitely not lightweight though.

We found an english style yard broom in S&R. The plastic bristles are a bit stiff and could be more closely packed but still beats the local witches broom things.

It's a membership outlet very similar to Costco.

About the same as what I got, about the same price.  I think I got mine at Handyman, Werner brand.  Seems solid.  However, on those foldable multi-position types, the steps are uncomfortable when standing for a long time.  For painting, I have a good old step ladder with flat steps and a paint shelf.
