Popular Post stevewool Posted December 4, 2019 Popular Post Posted December 4, 2019 It will soon be a week that we have been in the Philippines and so much has happened yet it feels like not much has happened too, maybe it’s because we are not here on a holiday but to work so the only site seeing is the DIY stores and the house project. Its been fun , the weather well everyday seems different other then the heat and yesterday was hot , but being on the roof deck sweeping the crap away with out a hat was a little silly. The house build is coming on, will we be in by Christmas I don’t think so but who knows, we both tried to clean the house yesterday , Ems was busy with bleach and mops and I took most of the fly screens out and gave them a good clean, the crap and dust that had settled in those was amazing , now you can see through them , it seems that we shall have to have a false ceiling put into the bathroom and bedroom as the ceiling cannot be smoothed it is to bad , but the main room should be ok. After all that rain we had from the typhoon it seems that the flat roof had a few leaks , just the odd drip in places and to tell the truth it was better then I had hoped for after the father in law says it’s leaking, so that’s to be sorted out. A little bored sometimes I get , still struggling for the car hire and cost and will it be worth it, but still have a long time to go over here, and here is some good news, yesterday I went out in my flip flops and it did not make my toes sore . Its more fun in the Philippines. 8
Popular Post manofthecoldland Posted December 5, 2019 Popular Post Posted December 5, 2019 FYI Just thought I'd mention that if you put in a false ceiling and any pests gain access to the cavity, you will be in for some future problems, so take care if you go that route. Speaking from personal experiences. 6 1

I went 5 years in my place before the rats found a way in. They are persistent. I was glad of a seamless ceiling and the easy availabiltiy of rat poison

However, the sickened rats and mice try to always bury themselves somewhere they feel safe deep in any crevices or tiny spaces where they will die. If you cannot get to these spaces, the remains can become very offensively smelly... I do not like cats, but that could be an alternative to poison since they play with then kill the critters in plain sight and access...

If you want to be a local, Steve, shed the flipflops - here called "sandals" - and go barefoot!
