Popular Post Arizona Kid Posted January 12, 2020 Popular Post Posted January 12, 2020 I never got to have dogs when I lived in the US for one reason or the other. 22 years in the USN was one of the reasons. Renters in San Diego also don't want you to have dogs. I like dogs better than I like people. When I moved here in 2002 I finally got as many as I wanted. 8
OnMyWay Posted January 12, 2020 Posted January 12, 2020 They look vicious! Have they killed anyone yet? My 3 daughters and I really want a dog. My wife, not so much. After we get a decent fenced in area, I will get one. Probably a lab. 1
Popular Post RobH Posted January 12, 2020 Popular Post Posted January 12, 2020 We've got 4, 2 proper GSD, brought with me from the UK and 2 Philippine wannabes 2/3 the size. all the males are aggressive, the females not so much. The 2 UK ones sleep in the bedroom with us. That took a major fight to achieve with the wife, she's ok now, but as I said to her they aint gonna steal plants from the garden. I wouldn't be without them, but I do love GSD's 4

Marvin Boggs Posted January 13, 2020 Posted January 13, 2020 Have thought about getting a dog after we move out of the city. My secret hope is to acquire a 'quiet' big, male dog who would hopefully become the alpha in the neighborhood.

The only way a dog becomes the alpha dog is to form a pack, that means letting your dog roam free in the neighbourhood. Please don't do that.

Please don't do that. Occasionally an aggressive dog will see the owners family as the pack and become alpha. This can be dangerous as the dog may not mind the owner(s) if strangers come on the property. Women and children can have a more difficult time maintaining a dominant role in the "pack" as they are smaller in size and their voices tend to not be as strong or stern as a man's.

Please don't do that. I only keep female dogs cuz I don't want the puppy problem. It's usually the oldest female that becomes the Alpha. I normally have at least 5 dogs at any given time. When they go into heat they hump each other. Kinda funny but sad in a way.
