In the Philippines you can see every colour of houses on the streets so are there any rules about what colour you can use to paint the outside of the house, and those who have done so what colour do you find best to use, is there a better colour that may last longer in this weather .

Dark colors fade faster than the brighter colors in the sun. Bright yellow with white  trim would be a good choice. Someone in my subdivision paid a lot of money to paint their house purple with white trim. It looked awesome for about 2 years, then the sun took over. Don't skimp on the paint or you might regret it.

Let's face it, the Philippines may be about the harshest environment you can find wrt exterior paint. Painting every 3 years for a fresh look would be reasonable. Fading is better than peeling. Washing once or twice a year may help as well. For sure green has more opportunity due to pigments to show fading than say whites or beiges.... but who uses those colors in the PI?

Spot on, dark colours do indeed fade quicker than light colours in the sun. That is because dark colours absorb the sunlight a lot more than lighter colours.

Noticed the British way and correct way of spelling "colours" :tiphat:

You only need to look at the hottest countries in the world... and what colour and construction most of their buildings are (North Africa, Indian Subcontinent...even Mexico.  WHITE ?  No tin roofs either.

'Hollow block natural gray/grey' seems to be a very popular choice judging from what I have seen.  :facepalm_80_anim_gif:
