Why are people wasting money on face masks unless they have flu like symptoms?

what gets me is the herd mentality, when the huge majority of deaths are folks over 60 with preexisting conditions

So far, 80 per cent of victims were elderly individuals aged 60 or above and 75 per cent had pre-existing health conditions, such as diabetes, the National Health Commission said Tuesday (Feb 4)

I bought some to add to my first aid kit, I don't actually wear them.

Because they believe it will help prevent them catching the virus.

They may well be wrong in their belief but I guess that's the answer to the question.

How many here are aged 60 and above and have health conditions.  :nudie:

For those who do not qualify as above:  How many here regularly visit someone who is aged 60 and above with health conditions and would feel guilty as hell if they picked up this virus and spread it to them? :56da64a10ceee_1(235):

And as a final conclusion.  How many want to take the chance that they will be a part of the healthy popuation who catch it and kick the bucket (like the 39 year old doctor who discovered the disease) :56da64a413b01_3_12_311:

They are much more useful for avoiding spreading the virus once you've caught it...

....I filed for a refund with Shopee.  Let's see how that goes.

Shopee is very good about refunds. Until you mark the shipment "received", they hold the money, not the seller.  I have had to cancel a  couple orders and the money always goes into my account that day, or the next.

I wear a mask on the jeepney during the dry season. For the dust, not for germs.  I have one of the spongy black masks, not the little paper mask.

Good to know!  How do they do the refund, considering that I paid at 7/11?

They give you a shoppee "wallet" where they keep your cash until you spend it at another shoppee outlet
