Well thats just disturbing. 

It is also totally inline with what I've experienced about the Chinese.

I've seen videos of them eating bats over there. Is food that scarce?

In Fiji and some other island countries, it is considered a delicacy. I tasted it once - hate to say the old saw, but it tastes like chicken... Bony chicken...

My ship visited Fiji once in the early 70's Nice country. I'll take your word for it though that bat taste's like chicken.

It's a beautiful country with really nice people. I made several good friends there. I spent the better part of two, almost three years there. Got really tired of drinking kava and peeing all night. Had to drink Bounty Rum to kill the taste. I think that is when I developed my nasty rum habit?

But we digress from that nasty virus. I can believe that article that Jack D listed... really scary stuff. Anything to make some cash and anything to eat something "exotic," even if it kills you? Ugghhh...

Years ago used to do a lot of caving in Samar, was very common for locals to eat bats. They would stings fishing lines at entrance with numerous hooks.
