2 Pinays visiting me in Thailand - how do they get back?

Hello,

I have 2 pinay friends visiting me in Thailand. They are booked from Bkk-MNL on March 24th on CebuPacific.

They don't live in Metro Manila, but in Cavite and in Angono Rizal.

How would the lock down affect their trip?

They are afraid that they would have to take a hotel in Manila until April 24th.

Could anyone throw some light on the current situation?

Can they use public transportation ATM? Or what would you suggest they do to get home?

Thanks for your help!

Welcome to the forum:thumbsup:

Short answer is,,,,,,,,,,it is to early to say for sure. The situation here is fluid.

Long answer is,,,,,,,,as of midnight tonight Manila will be closed off. People in the province who have work in Manila (with proper employer ID) will be allowed to enter and exit via public or private transportation. International flights will continue, but there is no official mention of how folks in the province will get to the airport.

We have relatives (US citizens) who live in the province and are scheduled to return to the US next week so we are monitoring the details also.

If we go by what has been published so far, they are correct. Manila will be like Hotel California. It the flight is cancelled they will not be able to leave Manila.

To be honest it is just to early to tell right now.

Everything is changing by the second.  If they get to Thailand they must quarantine for 14 days on return but the added difficulty is they won't get out of Manila until the 14th of April unless things change.  By the Cavite could also be in lock down.  Personally I wouldn't travel for now.

Thanks for your kind answers, but I think there has been a slight misunderstanding!

They are already in Thailand visiting me and are worried how they would get back to their homes!

They have confirmed flights on CebuPacific in 10 days from BKK to Manila.

If they are Philippine citizens they can enter the country.  If they fly into Manila they may be required to quarantine for 14 days.  Manila is currently under lock down and people cannot leave the city for 30 days.  But as others have posted things are changing on a daily, even hourly, basis.  No one is going to be able to tell you what will happen 10 days from now, only what is happening now.

Would this be a voluntary quarantine in their homes or will they be locked up somewhere?

My understanding is they would be required to ‘self isolate’ for 14 days. That would be in whatever accommodation your friends had in Manila. But they would still need to remain in Manila for the duration of the restriction. All the bulletins so far have been very vague as to the details of it. Cavite and Antonio Rizal being very close to Manila might not be a problem depending on where the ‘lockdown’ boundary falls. I haven’t seen any specific geographical co-ordinates for the affected area.
If they are outside the affected area, then it might be an option to try and re-route BKK to Clark. A quick look though doesn’t show any Cebu Pacific flights on this route. Possibly another airline might? Then go by road from Clark, and circumnavigate Manila to get them home.  A long trip but possible. But that could all change in a heartbeat.

I think the only way you could circumnavigate Manila would be by boat. All roads north south go through Manila. There just isn't anything east of Manila.

Just stay in your place and watch porn movies. Heard a rumor that Cavite City is going on lockdown. If it's true..how will the meth distribution system survive?
