I have a friend in Australia who is looking for information on his deceased Australian grandfather. He lived somewhere around Olongapo city and apparently died about 8 years ago.

His name was Eric John Booker, his wife's name is Josie Booker or possibly something like Josefina Gayrama.

The story is that the wife would never give much info on his death and then she stopped talking to the family so no one really knows what happened or where he is buried. Even though the wife wasn't talking she did manage after 8 years make contact asking for money when the lockdown kicked in.

Probably no one here knows but any ideas of where to find out anything?

The guy ( 'Mo')  who runs this group of bars and hotels (Dryden Group) may be able to assist.  He has been there (Subic area) many years.

A real gentleman, involved with the local community,  and knows a lot of the local expats.

Sounds like a situation where a private investigator would be needed.  Someone who knows how to get records, etc.

Is there any other information about him?   Retiree or?  Where he lived in the area?  On the base or in Olongapo?

If he was a drinker a bit, and especially if he lived on the base, he may be known at Vasco's Pub.  Brian Vasco, the owner, is Aussie and has lived here since the 70's or 80's.  A lot of local Aussies and other expats gather at Vascos.  The family could reach out to Brian via the Vasco's Pub Facebook page.

If he was a veteran might try the RSL and also Hasher Club (for those unfamiliar with the term = hashers are an Aussie social group of hikers). There are local chapters in Cebu of both who might be able get you contacts in Olangapo.

Yep... 'Hash House Harriers'. International group started as far back as 1938.

He goes by Mo on the other forum but his real name is Dave (everyone knows it so I'm not outing him) he'd be the best person to ask he really is a nice guy, helps out any foreigner who gets in trouble whether he knows them or not.

Jolly - PM me if you need his number and I'll call one of his friends or there is a dryden group in Subic on Facebook but I don't use FB.
