its was not the guard on a power trip

We ran into this here in Manila a while back. We got around it by the rule that a senior can have an escort.

But you have to take the time and effort to get past the guard.

I kept my cool, ask to see the manager, explained the IATF policy to him.

In fact HE knew the policy but as happens in all organizations the word got mangled as it got down to the lowly door guard. The manager corrected the guard and we got in.

Same thing happened today, i went to Rustins and was told by the guard that i needed a face shield to enter. Since I was by myself and had the time, I stood there, and asked for his supervisor. Supervisor kame and i asked to see the store manager. When he kame i pointed out to him that IAW IATF policy face shields are only MANDATED for employees. He agreed, looked surprised, turned to the security manager, babbled instructions, who yelled at the guard. I was waved in WITHOUT a face shield.

If a person KNOWS they are right, and are willing to keep cool, and fight the system in a respectful manner, he usually will win. (most Filipinos, my wife included just roll over)

Oh just for giggles, after i entered, i snapped my fingers like i forgot something, went back out to my car, got my face shield and went back in.............:hystery:

That was a way to get around it, but which part of the IATF policy says that only one person can enter on one card?  If there were some policy about that, it would apply to all stores as part of entering.  If the area is on MGCQ, there is no such rule and a couple can shop together.

Thanks to Insite for bringing this up.  I will print a copy of the S&R policy saying guests are allowed, and if needed ask them to show me the IATF policy that says a couple can't shop together.

I guess we all know what has happened here - the local store has probably seen an opportunity to bump up membership numbers.  It won't be the first or the last time this has happened.  I am sure if Onsite was to go back armed with the membership rules he'd have no problem getting in.  I'd imagine any significant change to membership rules would need to be published and would likely not apply to current members until their card expired.  Companies try it on but will back down when challenged.

Under category 3-industries, will operate at 50% up to full operations capacity. That can be extrapolated as if before a card allowed two, it now allows 1. Sorry it wont let me copy paste. here is the link

As much as i like to fight the system, on this one i think they got us. :SugarwareZ-034:

Yes I am also of the opinion it is a cash grab.

The card is in my partners name and I was refused entry but within 10 mins I could buy a new card in front of the security who stopped me and could enter .

It has nothing to do with 50% occupancy , FM passes nor one household member allowed out as those restrictions were lifted for some weeks in Davao.

I agree with you Insite.

About a week or two ago I received a phone call from someone at S & R reminding me that my membership had lapsed. She went on to say that I could easily renew any time I go to the store, even though it lapsed back in February. They are definitely cash hungry there now...

Thanks for the heads up... We were planning to go there soon to stock up on some things. Now I will re-think this and maybe forego S & R.

I think S&R have really gone down hill the last year or so. They seem to have become a huge sari-sari store! Shelves piled high with cheap snacks, cans of Spam and sardines. The bread section only had pan de sal!!! No Florida Natural orange juice for months! I think we will not be renewing our membership when it expires. I have found that SM supermarket and especially Rustans now stock a much bigger range of western goods than S&R.

That because you are not from the colonies :hystery:, as soon as other places start stocking hot links, 2 brands of chili, burritos, sells new york pizza, real size hamburger buns, chips ahoy candy blast cookies, Heinze ketchup (del monte sucks) A1 steak sauce and other yankee delicacies I will switch also lolol.

Besdies, since it is a "pay membership" store, it keeps a lot of the riff raff out :cryingwhilelaughing_anim:
