Jenningsjs Posted August 24, 2020 Posted August 24, 2020 (edited) Can anyone explain exactly what the SBMA (what I assume is the former American military base) actually is? Their website is very vague but based on videos I have seen I would be very interested in a long term lease of a bay front flat or one bedroom apartment. I can not determine who to contact regarding available rentals from their website. Any real life experiences / information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. http://live.mysubicbay.com.ph/live-my-subic-bay Edited August 24, 2020 by Jollygoodfellow Reinstated link after checking

Thanks in advance. http://live.mysubicbay.com.ph/live-my-subic-bay SBMA is the government entity in charge of the Subic Bay Freeport Zone. Wiki has a good description of the Freeport and might have some good links at the bottom. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Subic_Special_Economic_and_Freeport_Zone SBMA does not usually have many residential properties they lease direct to the public, but they have one occasionally, usually due to repossession. Those are usually teardowns. Sometimes they market properties on behalf of the current long term lease owners. When I first was looking here 7 years ago, they had some listings on their website but they were always old. I can't find any now. There are only a very few bay front properties right now, and I happened to see one for the first time a week or so ago. A friend I recently met invited us over to his condo. I didn't know it existed. Appears to be 20+ years old, reasonably nice, with a pool overlooking the bay. 6 units, I think. If money is not of concern, they are building this monstrosity right on Triboa Bay: http://www.triboamajesticbay.com/about.php Even with this new place, 99.5 % if residential leases are in the old Navy neightborhoods of Kalayaan, Binictican and Cubi, and they are up in the hills. I live in Kalayaan. If you want to ask SBMA about residential leases, contact the Land and Asset Department. I used to have a good contact there but she retired. The contact info should be on the website but the "departments" directory does not seem to be working right now. This is the one I was referring to, with the phone numbers. Working now. They do pick up and it is a fairly responsive department. http://invest.mysubicbay.com.ph/how-to-reach-us/directory 1
