Won't Get Fooled Again!

I listened to this song so many times in my youth.  I was just watching a long video on You Tube about the Covid Virus, and these lyrics popped into my head.  I will share that later.  Lyrics down below.  Almost 50 years old and seems to apply today.

We'll be fighting in the streets
With our children at our feet
And the morals that they worship will be gone
And the men who spurred us on
Sit in judgement of all wrong
They decide and the shotgun sings the song

I'll tip my hat to the new constitution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around
Pick up my guitar and play
Just like yesterday
Then I'll get on my knees and pray
We don't get fooled again

The change, it had to come
We knew it all along
We were liberated from the fold, that's all
And the world looks just the same
And history ain't changed
'Cause the banners, they are flown in the next war

I'll tip my hat to the new constitution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around
Pick up my guitar and play
Just like yesterday
Then I'll get on my knees and pray
We don't get fooled again, no, no

I'll move myself and my family aside
If we happen to be left half alive
I'll get all my papers and smile at the sky
Though I know that the hypnotized never lie

Do ya?

Yeah

There's nothing in the streets
Looks any different to me
And the slogans are replaced, by-the-bye
And the parting on the left
Is now parting on the right
And the beards have all grown longer overnight

I'll tip my hat to the new constitution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around
Pick up my guitar and play
Just like yesterday
Then I'll get on my knees and pray
We don't get fooled again
Don't get fooled again, no, no

Yeah
Meet the new boss
Same as the old boss

At this stage Don, not sure quite what the message you follow with will be, but it sure ain't the World I was born into or would choose for my Kids or Grandchildren.

Yesterday I believe would of been  John Lennon's 80th birthday......

I love almost all The Beatles music and Lennon's too.  However, some of the lyrics that I related to in my teens and twenties, I can no longer relate to.  "Imagine no possessions" didn't require much imagination from me back then, as I had none.  Now, I like my possessions!

:hystery: So did they !!!!

There is a statue of John "Working class hero" somewhere in Liverpool UK........but I don't want to disillusion anyone.

They never made Liverpool their homes after fame arrived.

Paul did use to revisit Liverpool and still does. John as far as I can recall never did.

Ringo made his home in the States, while George's main residence was in a nice part of southern England

But the idea of a perfect World *I still try to Imagine. :tiphat:

I enjoyed this a lot and have watched it several times since I first saw it when it was new!

The Public House...( Bar ) where the last part of the video was filmed is called the Philharmonic Hotel and is famous because it still has the Gents toilets from its original beginnings as a Gentlemans Club in the 1800's.....a bit off topic but thought it might be of interest.
