I'm just trying in a round about way to show how two people getting the same thing done can have a completely different perspective on things here and neither would be wrong.

If it gets done that's usually a bonus it would appear in most cases

There has been a flurry of threads lately, that made all to easy for a few of us to lay criticism about the may unsolved (unsolvable?) problems and defects of the Filipinos and Filipinas. I won't

Filipino Inventor from Mapua University Wins the James Dyson Award for Sustainable Invention Published November 20, 2020, 3:30 PM by Len Amadora 2020 was a record-breaking year for the Jam

I worked here for 5 years and worked with a great many filipinos OFWs in Saudi ,Hong Kong, Jordan, Malaysia and a few other places. Without a shadow of a doubt the OFWs were way more serious work

As you say it's normal for no one to return calls, text, messages.  That seriously does my head in especially when you know you have good money to give them and they plead poverty.

I'm a pretty technical person and good with my hands so after no one got back to me I'd have done it myself.  Similar when I wanted a wifi mast installed, " Yes sir we can do that" then no one turned up. Phoned three suppliers of internet for a survey, " Yes sir our technician will be out today or tomorrow," not one turned up.  I could list a dozen other examples.  My Filipino mates all tell me if you want something done you must go in person and sit and wait or you will go to the back of the queue.  Maybe that's where the habit of pushing in comes from and why Filipinos are great at queuing.

L and I have had this same experience numerous times. L is, as I have previously mentioned in other posts, 100% Filipina. It drives her nuts that people do not reply to messages or not show up to do work when promised. I, actually, do not get as upset as she does, surprisingly - maybe advanced years have given me a bit more patience?

So, much as I am really not in the mood for it, I am starting to do more things here at the new home myself. Then I know it is either done properly or I mucked it up myself and it's my fault...I can live with that.

However, to bring my post back to the topic at hand, I am also truly amazed at how so many Filipinos create or repair "things" in decent ways. Yeah... the electrical is a bit lacking (e.g. always twisting wires together and wrapping with electrical tape) ...but they make it work. Few, if any, of the workers here owned their own tools (the sparky was the exception), but they did get things done. Overall, I am impressed with their ingenuity and resourcefulness in the scope of poverty and lack of trade education...

Apologise for what, sorry?

Did you apologise for calling me a pimp?

You need some more time off, maybe away from the Philippines.

I thought you and the other one had kissed and made up , sounds more like one of you have tried to bury the hatchet in the other ones head for real.
