days of the stealth submarines are long gone with today's technology

We will have to agree to disagree on that.

Ah, leave it up. It breaks the monotony of TerryP replies to TerryP's topic in the Activity tab ;-)

Behave Jake, you know you can't do that but you could head it in another Direction ( That is a Diplomatic way of saying things) We all know War is not the answer don't we? If it was, I think one or the another country would have done it by now:whatever:

Do "we" really, Jack?

Think about, in no particular order, a few wars started by:

Rome (long time ago)

Persia

Germany (x2)

Italy

England (or Great Britain if you prefer)

France

Japan

Russia (aka Soviet Union at some time)

China (via Vietnam and others)

Ahhh... USA

Various African tribes + several African countries - I am too lazy to look them all up

Iran

Iraq

Israel

Egypt

Spain

I am sure I have left out a few. I was just giving some examples.

Yes, Jack... I really do get your point and agree with your thoughts. I am not trying to fundamentally disagree with you.

But my comment is more another rhetorical one - have we, as humans, really learned and do we really believe that war is not the answer? Sadly, I think not. You and I and most (hopefully) forum members and most citizens of your country, mine, Australia...etc. etc. most likely do.

However, humans are still tribal in nature. Now that nature is evolving from ethnicity and politics toward business and economies in my opinion. It only takes one nut case, one dictator or autocrat (or corporate officer?) to make a mess.

If anything, I would broaden Jake's original post - with his permission, of course - to suggest that CHAOS is on the horizon, if not already peeping over the edge...

Just my thoughts...

:whatever: say no more, it will do good to ponder on the Past and it seems the Future will never come and we wonder why The Local here, never think of Tomorrow?

Well... we don't really know, do we? But you make another valid point, Jack. It would be so cool if we learned from our mistakes... Sometimes I learn from my own, then sometimes I just go out and repeat them - but not so much now as in my past - thankfully!
