Jollygoodfellow Posted June 24, 2021 Posted June 24, 2021 Why is it any eggs I purchased at supermarkets I can not get a solid yolk? When you crack them open the yolk is most times runny?

Popular Post Joey G Posted June 24, 2021 Popular Post Posted June 24, 2021 One reason yolks will be runny is that they are not fresh. 7

Here in Davao, there is a company called Jewm that supplies eggs. They are always fresh. Other suppliers provide old eggs.... So the yolk is on you!

Forum Support Mike J Posted June 24, 2021 Forum Support Posted June 24, 2021 Google agrees with previous posters that freshness is key. Scott says you can soak them in a mixture of Pepto-Bismol and Viagra and it will firm up the yolk. <snip> If the yolk is flat and the egg white runny, the egg is old. The protein chains (various substances linked together) in the egg white break up over time. In an old egg, the yolk and white no longer cling tightly together and so run more. <end snip> 3

Another reason is that I'm a true Southerner (at heart), even though I was raised by Yankees in the Northern US. I just can't seem to get enough of my runny eggs on top of my grits. 1
