We are currently in a hotel charging about $135.00 per night.

Thanks for that JJ, I hope people read your post and sit back and reflect on the prices being charged in the PI hotels against their own countries tariffs. I've been checking out the airfares too, surprise, surprise they have halved for the month of March I recon the passenger numbers aren't there and if you can hold off they'll get cheaper still. :xmas_girl:Isn't she a lovely site first thing in the morning for the imagination.

A related fear is testing positive 24 or 48 hours before your flight.  What happens next?  Do you get a refund or voucher for a future flight?  We don't want to stop our overseas travel because the United States has become too expensive for us.  On average, hotels and motels have increased prices in the 20% to 25%.  Services have also been cut.  We are currently in a hotel charging about $135.00 per night.  Breakfast has been reduced to a cup of coffee and a muffin which you are required to take back to your room.  Housekeeping is every two weeks unless you are willing to pay an extra $40.  I have to empty the trash myself.  For that kind of money, I think the Philippines can provide a nice hotel and full services including breakfast.

We investigated the quarantine-approved hotels in Cebu. There you would be able to get a nice room with all meals included and food deliveries allowed for $60/night.

Umm no they won't get cheaper. Airlines have been canceling flights when they are not selling enough tickets to at least break even.

go to Philippines and then test positive at the last test before being released from quarantine

I would not surprised that you would have to pay for all on the plane testing and quarantine, it is the Philippines.

Very reasonable price.  We moved yesterday to Las Vegas because of a Mercedes Benz recall on Sprinter models and it will take a minimum of 3 days.  A dealer at Henderson has given us an appointment.  More about the recall in a future posting.

A well-known casino hotel is advertising through their website standard rooms for $24.00 a night if paid in advance.  I booked a one week stay.  The email confirmation then mentions a daily "resort fee" of $49.71 to be paid at the hotel.  At check-in, the receptionist mentions these standard rooms are in an old wing that has not been upgraded.  For an additional charge, we can get a new room remodeled 7 months ago that includes a safe, coffeemaker, refrigerator and daily housekeeping services.  The final charge, including taxes, is around $110.00 per night.  Still cheap by Las Vegas rates for hotels on the Strip.  Never mind a quart size water at the convenience store is $7.00 and the hotel's Starbucks just charged me $15.00 for one coffee and two bagels (plus $2.00 tip).

Looking forward to spending time in Philippine hotels, at more reasonable rates, whether for mandatory quarantine or pleasure.
