It now looks like they won’t have power restored to their village until April or May. The power company blames it on a lack of manpower and materials as well as priorities. It seems small mountain villages are the last on the list. Any recommendations for rechargeable solar powered lamps? Where to find, brands, etc. Just for indoor use for a few hours per night ……instead of burning oil lamps and using candles. AM says what’s on Lazada are mostly overpriced junk. https://www.amazon.com/Jackery-Portable-Power-Station-Generator/dp/B07D29QNMJ/ref=sr_1_3?crid=1J9XGU03UMKR7&keywords=jackery+portable+power+station&qid=1641751791&sprefix=Jackery%2Caps%2C163&sr=8-3 https://www.jackery.com/products/explorer-240-portable-power-station?variant=19479246864471 Not cheap but it seems a quality product. I see a number of YouTube campers and van life types using this brand. Edited January 9, 2022 by Old55

You can make your own cheaply. 100 watt 12v solar panel... 30 amp solar charger... 12v battery... 12v small inverter. some pv cable... DC breaker. Plenty of instructor vids on you-tube or get someone who knows how to wire them up safely.
GeoffH Posted January 10, 2022 Posted January 10, 2022 There is some help reaching some affected areas, 'Australia In the Philippines' have been working in Surigao. It seems to be very low key though... there hasn't been much news coverage about it (other than the inital typhoon reports).

There will not be much news about it as "Foreigners" are providing the aid. But the recipients will be highly appreciative of the aid.
