Congratulations!

Agree, trikes and my lower back do not go well together.

So as of moving in next week, I’ll be a resident of Talay, just around the corner from “our Kev”, even closer to Chris, and about 50m from a quiet little watering hole.

Just shows nothing is perfect other than the watering hole :tiphat:

This post could've gone in "buying, building renting", it could've gone under "The Filipina" or it can go where I'm posting it.

We’re currently in temporary accommodation at Hermogina apartments in Banilad, and after a week of riding trikes all over town we thought we'd found somewhere to rent on a more long-term basis just north of the city, unfurnished, spacious 2-bedroom duplex but bring your own AC. By the time we found it Thursday morning I was just about done, after looking at about 20 houses/apartments so was pleased to find something we both apparently liked.

Friday night comes, we’re making plans to buy furniture etc over the next week or so then the other shoe drops.. “Lovey, I have a bad feeling about that place, I don’t think we should move there.” Hrrmmm, this just a couple of hours after the news of the reduced entry requirements into PI and I had a feeling that rents are about to go up significantly.  There was no point discussing any further the ramifications of all this and the added urgency to our situation, her mind was made up and even if she said no more on the issue, I know I would be suffering for months if we did move into the place.

Saturday morning, we head up to Sibulan to look at another place.  When we arrived, we realised that we’d already passed on it earlier in the week as it was, well, a shithole.  Off to Junob to look at another place and the owner/agent was a no show.

One more place to look at in Talay and I was done, we were going to take the place she wasn’t keen on if this last apartment didn’t pan out.  So, we arrive by trike at the Talay barangay hall and walk up the road to meet the owner at “Kling-Kling” sari-sari.  We rounded the corner and I saw it was the venue for a couple of beers with the boys the Thursday prior and I smiled.  The owner showed up and she escorted a little further up the road to the house.  Even from the outside it looked promising and upon a quick look inside I was sold.  Then I heard a Pommy accent coming from out the back, it was none other than Chris, one of the guys I’d been having beers with on Thursday.

So as of moving in next week, I’ll be a resident of Talay, just around the corner from “our Kev”, even closer to Chris, and about 50m from a quiet little watering hole.

Yes, I know, business with mates can go bad, but it can also go well,  I did take that into account when making the decision.

After the last week or I don’t care if I never ride in another trike again, dodgy back is now dodgier and dickie knees are done for a while.  If anyone in Dumaguete knows of anyone selling a little runabout for around PHP150-180k or less, let me know.

Wow Brett, been a couple years since last in Dumaguete, appears the trike traffic situation has not improved. Your in a great spot with Kevi around the corner, lots of beers will be flowing.  Finally if buying an older Multi Cab or similar be prepared for heaps more hassles.
