This is your visa run trip, right?  Are you going to stay a few days?

We have been thinking about a Malaysia trip.  They have direct flights to Johor Baru now, right across the bridge from Singapore.  I went there in the 90s (side trip from SIN) and there was just shopping, but now it has a lot of nice resorts and attractions.  Legoland for the kids.  We found a lot of really nice AirBnBs for low prices, and even the rooms at Legoland are cheap.

Also went to Kuala Lumpur in the 90's.  It was nice enough but must be a lot nicer now.  Our hosts took us up to the Genting Highlands and it was much cooler.  I think I won like $300 at a casino there.

Nothing confirmed yet but probably 5 days.

I've watched a few recent videos and looks very clean and modern. I would say much better than here but not decided yet as things change including prices. Im hoping more direct flights will start soon from Cebu to save the Manila issues.

I guess the Johor Baru direct flight is not running now.

I was just looking at Genting Highlands and it is a big place now.  Amusement parks, casinos, gondolas, and cooler weather.  When we went (I was on a free group trip with Malaysian Airlines) we took a bus up there for dinner and gambling, and came home same night.  All I remember was trees and a casino.  Looks like there is a lot to do up there now.

As far as I know all flights go to Kuala Lumpur. I was wanting to go to Kota Kinabalu but that was another flight from the Capital but things might change

Just my experience:

Flight arrived in Manila on time. Off the plane and through the rather relaxed one health pass checkpoint within 10 mins. Onto a miserable guy at the immigration desk who questioned me repeatedly about my intentions, solely because of my passport is full of Thailand extentions of stay. About 5 minutes there. 

On to the long walk to baggage claim.Bag came out quick so off to find transport to terminal 4. Maybe 15 mins total. Shuttle buses looked packed with long queues. Guy quoted taxi for 750php.... Lol. Went to the metered taxi rank. Went to front of the queue and asked the man at the desk if I could jump the queue as I was short on time.... Guy at the front said he was in no hurry so let me in! Thanked profusely. Maybe 10 mins total + 5 mins in the taxi 250php agreed price. No meter used. Plenty of time to spare. 

Flight to Iloilo delayed 45 mins!
