Popular Post ExtraThree Posted July 10, 2022 Popular Post Posted July 10, 2022 We just left PH but have no desire to trash it just to trash it. I had a mild disagreement with my physician landlord and she immediately defaulted to fascist behavior. She knows people she can have be blacklisted. She had no intension of follow thru and she was a good doctor. That’s when I knew I could never live in a place you could not say what you are thinking. The people are utterly flawed at handling criticism. Lots of both passivity and totalitarian tendencies. The real reason I left was children's education though. Now I am home enjoying U.S cultural flaws, surrounded by woman that dress like angry lesbians and paying $35 + tip for a haircut. God has a sense of humor. 3 1

Popular Post Balisidar Posted July 10, 2022 Popular Post Posted July 10, 2022 Each to his own. Not having a landlord and living in our own house definitely makes a difference. As far as the Filipino tendencies on criticism, I've grown used to just keeping my mouth shut. My wife says everything that needs to be said.😂😂 I won't be going back to the high priced hell that is the USA anytime soon.😄 But best of luck to you.✌✌ 7 1

I read the news each day and I can't help but feel like the USA where I spent the first 63 years of my life is gone forever. Things were getting strange when I moved here nine years ago but it sounds like things are far worse now. 5

One bad egg shouldn't spoil the entire experience here. There's over 7,000 islands to choose from; well that's not quite true habitability-wise, but you get my point. Couple of things I never talk to the locals about: Politics, religion and the varying service levels etc here. Well, with the exception of a couple of close Filipino friends (yes, they do exist), and The Minister for Finance and War of course (my wife). Why did the doctor resort to poor behaviour? The quickest way to get a Filipino's back up is to accuse them of something, regardless of whether they did it or not, or raise your voice at them. It's a cultural thing. Actually, raising your voice will won't help your cause with most nationalities, not that I'm saying that's what happened. I guess what I'm trying to say is there's just some things you just have to accept here to make life enjoyable, if they're beyond your personal limits, that's fine and now you know. At least you gave it a shot. Edited July 11, 2022 by BrettGC 9 1
